De Bruyne on his injury: “I’ll have a CT scan, I hope to be back soon.” And on his future…

Speaking at the Belgian Golden Shoe ceremony, the Napoli midfielder updates fans on his recovery and shuts the door on a return home

Kevin De Bruyne has broken his silence on his injury and his future, offering reassuring words to Napoli fans during the 72nd Belgian Golden Shoe ceremony in Middelkerke, where he was inducted into the Belgian Football Hall of Fame. While his teammates were back in action on the pitch, the Belgian star took the opportunity to clarify both his physical condition and his long-term plans.

“Rehab is going very well”

“La riabilitazione sta procedendo molto bene,” said Kevin De Bruyne, sidelined since October 25 after picking up an injury against Inter at the Maradona.
“Tomorrow I’ll have a CT scan. I hope to be able to start running again soon. I’ve got a medical check coming up and everything is moving in the right direction.”

De Bruyne also made it clear that the operation he underwent was unavoidable, but necessary to secure a full recovery:
“The surgery was unfortunately needed, but now I’m completely focused on my rehabilitation. I’m happy with how things are going and I couldn’t ask for more.”

The ultimate target is already set:
“I hope to be back in top condition for the World Cup this summer, in the best possible shape.”

A special night in Belgium

Receiving such recognition while still active felt unusual to the Napoli playmaker:
“It’s a bit strange to get this kind of award while I’m still playing. But it’s special to be among the great names of Belgian football and, in a way, to be an example.”

Future talk: “I’m happy at Napoli”

Inevitably, questions arose about a possible return to Belgium later in his career. De Bruyne, however, left little room for speculation:
“If I ever return to Belgium, it would be to enjoy myself and be closer to home. But that’s not on my mind right now. I still want to challenge myself and explore my limits. I’m happy at Napoli.”

For Napoli, those words sound like a clear commitment: recovery first, ambitions intact, and no immediate thoughts of closing the chapter in Italy.
