President Aurelio De Laurentiis announced the appointment on social media as Napoli begin a new era following Antonio Conte’s departure. Allegri has signed a contract through 2029.
A new era has officially begun at Napoli.
Massimiliano Allegri has been appointed as the club’s new head coach, with president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirming the news through his traditional announcement on social media.
“Welcome, Max!” De Laurentiis posted on X at exactly 10:00 a.m., officially unveiling the manager who will lead Napoli into the next chapter of the club’s history.
Shortly afterward, Napoli released an official statement confirming that Allegri has signed a contract running through June 30, 2029.
The appointment marks the beginning of life after Antonio Conte and brings one of Italy’s most successful managers back to the sidelines.
In its announcement, Napoli highlighted Allegri’s remarkable coaching résumé, which includes leading Sassuolo to its first-ever promotion to Serie B before moving to Cagliari, where he won the prestigious Panchina d’Oro award.
He later guided AC Milan to the 2010-11 Serie A title before enjoying a trophy-filled first spell at Juventus, winning five consecutive Serie A championships, four straight Coppa Italia titles, two Italian Super Cups and reaching two UEFA Champions League finals.
After returning to Juventus for a second stint, Allegri lifted another Coppa Italia in 2024 before spending last season back at AC Milan, where he guided the Rossoneri to a fifth-place finish.
Napoli also noted a lesser-known detail from Allegri’s playing career: he briefly wore the club’s jersey during the 1997-98 season.
Although the agreement between Napoli and Allegri had reportedly been finalized weeks ago, the official announcement was delayed until the coach formally completed his contractual obligations with AC Milan.
The club is now preparing for Allegri’s official unveiling.
Rather than waiting until the preseason training camp in Dimaro, Napoli have scheduled his presentation for July 14 in the city of Naples. Reports suggest the historic Teatro di San Carlo is among the venues being considered, adding a symbolic touch as the club approaches its centennial celebrations.
Attention now shifts from the bench to the transfer market, where sporting director Giovanni Manna and the club’s leadership are expected to shape a squad capable of matching Allegri’s ambitions.
With one of Italy’s most decorated coaches now in charge, Napoli hope the next chapter will be every bit as successful as the last.
