Another draw for both sides in an intense, balanced contest
The “draw syndrome” continues for both Cremonese and Atalanta, who shared the points in a 1–1 clash at the Giovanni Zini Stadium. Jamie Vardy’s first Serie A goal looked set to hand the hosts a statement win, but Marco Brescianini’s late equalizer kept the visitors’ European hopes alive.
Cremonese approached the game with confidence and intensity, limiting Atalanta’s attacking play for long spells. Both goalkeepers — Silvestri for the hosts and Carnesecchi for the visitors — were reliable when called upon in a cagey first half with few chances.
Juric’s side pushed harder after the break, introducing Scamacca and Samardzic to find a spark, but it was the home team that struck first. In the 78th minute, Zerbin’s effort forced a save from Carnesecchi, and Vardy was perfectly placed to tap in the rebound for his long-awaited debut goal in Italy.
However, Atalanta responded almost immediately. Substitute Brescianini, on the field for just two minutes, found the net in the 84th with a sharp finish following sustained pressure. The final minutes saw both sides push for a winner, but neither could break through, sealing yet another draw in a season full of them.
For Cremonese, it’s another encouraging display against a top side; for Atalanta, a fourth consecutive draw across all competitions.
