Parma 2-3 Roma: Malen Converts 100th-Minute Penalty in Wild Finish at the Tardini

Roma completed a dramatic comeback victory over Parma with Donyell Malen scoring twice, including a controversial penalty deep into stoppage time, in a chaotic Serie A Matchday 36 clash.

Roma kept their Champions League hopes alive with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Parma at the Stadio Tardini, sealing all three points through a 100th-minute penalty from Donyell Malen after an extraordinary ending filled with tension and controversy.

The Giallorossi started brightly and immediately looked dangerous through Malen, who had an early goal ruled out for offside before eventually opening the scoring in the 22nd minute. Paulo Dybala delivered a brilliant assist for the Dutch forward, who calmly finished to put Roma ahead.

Roma nearly doubled their lead before halftime when Matías Soulé struck the post, while Parma’s best opportunity came after an awkward back pass from Evan Ndicka briefly put Mile Svilar under pressure.

The second half, however, completely changed the rhythm of the match.

Parma equalized almost immediately after the restart through Gabriel Strefezza, who finished a rapid counterattack to make it 1-1. Moments later, substitute Pellegrino thought he had completed the turnaround, but his goal was ruled out for offside in the buildup involving Troilo.

Roma continued to rely heavily on Malen, but Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki produced two excellent saves to deny the Dutch attacker and keep the score level.

The home crowd erupted in the 87th minute when Keita fired Parma into a 2-1 lead, seemingly securing a massive victory for Carlos Cuesta’s side.

But the drama was only beginning.

Deep into stoppage time, Devyne Rensch scored the equalizer for Roma in the 94th minute after joining the attack from the right flank. Moments later, the Dutch defender won a controversial penalty amid furious protests from Parma players and supporters.

Malen stepped up in the 100th minute and converted with composure, completing Roma’s comeback and securing a crucial victory that moves the Giallorossi back within one point of Juventus in the race for Champions League qualification.
