Fiorentina mathematically secured Serie A survival with a goalless draw against Genoa on Matchday 36, though the result was met with frustration from the home crowd at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Fiorentina officially guaranteed their place in Serie A next season on Sunday, but there was little celebration inside the Franchi after a dull 0-0 draw against Genoa.
In a match lacking intensity and quality, both sides appeared content to avoid unnecessary risks, producing very few scoring opportunities over the full ninety minutes.
The game also marked the first Serie A start for young Fiorentina forward Braschi, who showed energy and willingness to move into dangerous spaces but struggled to make a decisive impact in the final third.
The opening half offered almost no real excitement. Genoa’s Leo Østigård produced the clearest chance of the period in the 39th minute when his powerful header forced David De Gea into a sharp save.
Fiorentina rarely threatened before halftime, with the midfield trio struggling to establish rhythm or creativity. Rolando Mandragora and Cher Ndour both endured difficult afternoons as the Viola attack lacked urgency and precision.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with both teams playing at a slow pace typical of the closing weeks of the season.
Fiorentina came closest through Luca Ranieri, whose header drifted narrowly wide, while Fabiano Parisi also threatened during a brief scramble inside the Genoa penalty area. However, neither side looked capable of finding a breakthrough.
Defensively, De Gea remained attentive despite one uncertain moment coming off his line on a corner kick, while Genoa center-back Østigård delivered another solid performance at the heart of the visitors’ defense.
At the final whistle, Fiorentina secured the point needed to mathematically avoid relegation with two matches remaining, though sections of the home crowd responded with whistles after another uninspiring display.
