Torino steal a point in stoppage time as Fiorentina’s comeback collapses late, leaving Vanoli’s side stuck deep in the relegation zone on Matchday 24.
Fiorentina thought they had finally turned the corner after a disastrous start, but once again the ending was cruel. A 94th-minute header from Guillermo Maripán earned Torino a dramatic 2–2 draw at the Artemio Franchi, silencing the home crowd and extending Fiorentina’s nightmare season.
The Viola had shown character by overturning an early deficit with goals from Manor Solomon and Moise Kean, only to see their hard work undone in the dying moments. For Torino, the late equalizer salvaged a valuable away point after a difficult second half.
The match opened at a frantic pace, with chances at both ends. Fiorentina wasted a golden opportunity early on when Kean, released clean through by Fagioli, fired over the bar from close range. Torino were far more ruthless: from their first real chance, Casadei rose highest to head home a precise cross from Ilkhan, giving the visitors a 1–0 lead.
The second half began with a setback for Fiorentina as Gudmundsson was forced off through injury, but the hosts reacted in style. First came a moment of brilliance from Solomon, whose curling strike from outside the box flew into the top corner to level the score. Minutes later, Kean completed the turnaround, blasting a powerful right-footed shot past Paleari to make it 2–1 and seemingly put Fiorentina in control.
The Viola dominated possession and tempo for long stretches, but failed to kill the game. That proved costly. Deep into stoppage time, a free kick swung in from the right by Gineitis found Maripán, who shrugged off his marker and powered a header past De Gea for the 2–2, rescuing Torino and crushing Fiorentina’s hopes of a desperately needed win.
The draw leaves Fiorentina still mired in the relegation zone, while Torino walk away with a point that feels far more valuable given the flow of the match.
