Torino 1-2 Udinese: Zaniolo and Ekkelenkamp Lead Friulani Back to Winning Ways

Udinese strike twice after the break at the Olimpico Grande Torino, holding off a late Torino push to secure three precious points on Matchday 19.

Udinese returned to winning ways with an impressive 2-1 away victory over Torino, a result built on authority, control, and clinical finishing in the second half.

After a cautious opening spell, the Friulani gradually took command and were ultimately rewarded after the break, with goals from Nicolò Zaniolo and Jurgen Ekkelenkamp proving decisive. Torino’s late response through Casadei was not enough to deny Udinese a deserved success.

The first half was largely tactical, with Udinese showing greater fluency in possession. An early Udinese goal was ruled out following a VAR review: Kabasele headed home from an Ekkelenkamp cross, but the strike was disallowed due to a handball after the initial contact. Torino’s best chance of the half arrived shortly after, when Okoye produced an outstanding save to deny Casadei’s powerful header from close range.

Udinese finished the half strongly, with Ekkelenkamp and Zaniolo both threatening, while Paleari was forced into several interventions to keep the Granata level at the break.

The breakthrough came early in the second half. A move orchestrated once again by Ekkelenkamp ended with Zanoli delivering a precise assist for Zaniolo, who finished decisively to make it 1-0. Torino struggled to respond, despite Baroni’s attacking changes, while Udinese continued to look the more dangerous side, twice going close to a second goal through Davis.

The match came alive in the final 15 minutes. Torino pressed hard and nearly equalized, but Kabasele made a crucial clearance on the line. Moments later, Udinese struck again on the counterattack: Atta and Davis combined brilliantly before Ekkelenkamp capped off the move with a composed finish, effectively sealing the game.

Torino found late hope when Casadei headed home to make it 2-1, setting up a tense finale. However, Udinese held firm in stoppage time, seeing out the result and leaving Turin with a confidence-boosting win.
