Goals in the first half from Krstovic and Hermoso seal a balanced contest, as Roma and Atalanta share the points in a crucial European race clash.
Roma and Atalanta played out a 1-1 draw on Matchday 33 in a result that leaves both sides with mixed feelings in the race for European qualification.
At the Stadio Olimpico, it was a game of intensity and momentum swings, but ultimately neither team could find the decisive breakthrough after a lively first half.
Krstovic Strikes First for Atalanta
After a cautious opening, Atalanta took the lead in the 12th minute thanks to Nikola Krstovic, who unleashed a powerful strike from distance following a pass from Marten de Roon, leaving Mile Svilar with no chance.
Roma responded quickly, pushing forward in search of an equalizer. Their efforts were repeatedly denied by an inspired Marco Carnesecchi, who produced a key save to stop Donyell Malen in a one-on-one situation.
The match remained evenly contested, with chances at both ends. Svilar also stepped up with an important save on Ederson, keeping Roma within reach.
Hermoso Responds Before the Break
Just when it seemed Atalanta would carry their lead into halftime, Roma found their equalizer in stoppage time.
Mario Hermoso capitalized on a clever aerial assist from Zeki Celik, finishing with a superb left-footed volley inside the box to make it 1-1.
It was a crucial moment for the hosts, who had shown determination but struggled to convert their chances.
Second Half Balance, Chances but No Winner
Roma started the second half on the front foot, pushing higher up the pitch and creating more pressure in Atalanta’s half.
Malen again came close, but Carnesecchi continued to impress with another sharp intervention. Atalanta, however, looked dangerous on the counter and remained physically strong throughout.
The best chance of the second half fell again to Hermoso, whose header from a corner struck the crossbar in the 75th minute.
In the closing stages, fatigue set in for both sides, and while each team probed for a winner, neither could break the deadlock.
