Lazio 1-0 Milan: Isaksen Strike Ends Rossoneri Title Hopes

A first-half goal from Isaksen and a standout performance by young goalkeeper Motta give Lazio a crucial win over Milan on Serie A Matchday 29.

Lazio delivered one of their most convincing performances of the season, defeating Milan 1–0 at the Stadio Olimpico and dealing a major blow to the Rossoneri’s Scudetto ambitions.

Backed by the return of a full home crowd, Maurizio Sarri’s side produced an energetic display and secured their second consecutive home victory. Milan, meanwhile, suffered another setback that leaves their title challenge in serious doubt.

Lazio started the match with great intensity and immediately put Milan under pressure. The first warning sign came midway through the opening half when Pervis Estupiñán narrowly missed the right post.

Moments later, Lazio came even closer. Taylor produced a brilliant effort from a tight angle that crashed against the crossbar, catching the Milan defense off guard.

The breakthrough arrived in the 26th minute. Adam Marusic launched a long pass forward that caught Estupiñán out of position. Gustav Isaksen sprinted into space behind the defense and finished with a left-footed strike past Mike Maignan to give Lazio the lead.

The Biancocelesti nearly doubled their advantage ten minutes later when Daniel Maldini escaped the marking of Koni De Winter on a counterattack, but his weak shot was easily saved by Maignan.

At the start of the second half, Milan switched to a 4-3-3 formation, with Christian Pulisic and Alexis Saelemaekers flanking Rafael Leão in attack. The tactical change gave the visitors more confidence, and Pulisic forced Lazio goalkeeper Motta into an important save with a powerful right-footed shot.

Massimiliano Allegri attempted to shake up the game with substitutions, including bringing on Christopher Nkunku for Leão—a decision that visibly frustrated the Portuguese forward.

In the final half hour Milan pushed forward in search of an equalizer. The Rossoneri appealed for a penalty and also had a goal disallowed for a handball by Athekame, but Lazio held firm.

Young goalkeeper Motta delivered a standout performance, making crucial saves and showing impressive composure in his penalty area as he continued to fill in for the injured Ivan Provedel.

Despite Milan’s late pressure, Lazio maintained their defensive discipline and secured a vital three points, celebrating a memorable night in front of their home fans.
