Lazio in Turmoil: Sporting Director Fabiani Explodes Over Romagnoli Case — “We’ll See Each Other in Court”

The Biancocelesti director breaks his silence on internal tensions, confirms Pedraza’s arrival, and warns agents and intermediaries: “No one will exploit Lazio.”

A fiery press conference has once again placed Lazio at the center of attention. Speaking on the sidelines of the presentations of Motta, Przyborek and Maldini, sporting director Angelo Fabiani delivered an emotional and uncompromising address that touched on the Romagnoli saga, the transfer market, and what he described as a toxic climate surrounding the club.

Fabiani began with transfer news, confirming that Pedraza will officially join Lazio in July, with contracts already signed. He also addressed the situation of Diogo Leite, explaining that talks had progressed well before the defender’s injury, which will sideline him for six to seven weeks. “There’s a general agreement with his lawyer,” Fabiani said. “We’ll see if he still wants to commit to Lazio once he recovers.”

The Romagnoli Case: Legal Action Looms

The tone then shifted dramatically. Fabiani openly addressed the controversy surrounding Alessio Romagnoli, making it clear that the club is prepared to take legal action.

“I’ve heard everything about this story,” Fabiani said. “To protect Lazio and the honor of our supporters, I reserve the right to act through legal channels. Certain individuals — including intermediaries — will have to explain themselves in front of a magistrate.”

Fabiani stressed that Romagnoli himself behaved correctly throughout the affair. “I want to publicly thank Romagnoli. He was the only one who showed common sense. If he refused the transfer on principle, that earns him even more respect. But others did not behave properly, and they will have to answer for it.”

A Personal and Emotional Defense

In one of the most striking moments, Fabiani revealed personal sacrifices made in service of the club. “I come from a terrible year on a family level,” he said. “The day my nephew underwent surgery to donate a kidney, I wasn’t there — I was here working for Lazio. Time will judge whether I did well or badly, but I’ve laid foundations that didn’t exist when I arrived.”

He also issued a stark warning to agents and intermediaries. “The fans are vulnerable. Today they lift you up, tomorrow they abandon you if they feel deceived. As long as I’m here, no one — internal or external — will exploit Lazio.”

Transfers and Objectivity

Fabiani rejected accusations of inconsistency in player management, citing past departures. “Guendouzi left because he wanted to. Castellanos asked to leave — I didn’t put him on the market. I don’t hold anyone hostage. And if we managed to make a few million in the process, at least give us credit for reinvesting it.”

His message was unmistakable: Lazio’s leadership will not bend to pressure, nor tolerate what he called “merchants” attempting to profit at the club’s expense.

In a moment of deep instability for Lazio, Fabiani’s words were not just a defense — they were a declaration of intent. Legal battles may now follow, but the sporting director made one thing clear: the club believes it is acting to protect its identity, its supporters, and its future.
