A calm smile, measured words, and a clear message. After Inter’s 2–0 away win against Cremonese, Cristian Chivu highlighted what mattered most: maturity.
Speaking after the match, the Inter head coach focused less on dominance and more on game management. “What do I take from this game? The win, first of all,” Chivu explained. “But also the team’s maturity in understanding the moments of the match and finding the right way to win it. We stayed in control for what the game allowed us to do.”
Chivu admitted Inter lacked some sharpness in ball circulation, largely due to physical fatigue. “We were a bit slow in possession because we didn’t always have the energy to attack the line,” he said. “But we managed to take the lead before halftime, and that changed everything. In the second half it’s normal to drop a little when you’re managing both the scoreline and your energy. The important thing was winning, and we did.”
The victory temporarily pushes Inter eight points clear of city rivals AC Milan, who still have a game in hand, reinforcing the Nerazzurri’s grip on the top of the table.
Frattesi and the Market
Inevitably, the discussion shifted to the transfer window and the future of Davide Frattesi, whose role has been widely debated in recent weeks.
“Frattesi is an Inter player and he’s important for us,” Chivu stated firmly. “Now he has to show it on the pitch. We trust his qualities, and in the final part of the season we’ll need him at his best. In certain matches, he can give us something extra — something we sometimes lack.”
On potential reinforcements, Chivu kept his stance pragmatic. “I’m not expecting anything in particular from the market. What I’m really waiting for is to recover energy, because we play again on Wednesday. We’ve been the same 25 players since the start of the season, and we’ve tried to involve everyone.”
Then, the most telling line: “I don’t complain, but honestly, I can’t wait for the transfer window to be over.”
