Brazilian attacker signs long-term contract after €20m deal with Verona and could be available immediately for Conte
Napoli have moved quickly to address their attacking shortage, finalizing the signing of Giovane from Hellas Verona. The agreement is now complete, with the Brazilian forward set to join Antonio Conte’s squad on a long-term deal that runs through 2031.
Napoli reached full contractual terms with the player’s representatives today in Rome, securing Giovane on a salary of approximately €1.2 million per season. The financial agreement with Verona had already been in place for several days, with the total package — including bonuses — valued at €20 million.
The timing of the deal is no coincidence. Napoli’s recent squad reshuffle, which saw Noa Lang depart for Galatasaray and Lorenzo Lucca move to Nottingham Forest, created both financial space and an immediate need in attack. Giovane was identified as the ideal profile to reinforce the frontline, offering pace, versatility, and upside.
The Brazilian is expected to arrive in Naples imminently to undergo medical examinations. The club’s objective is to make him available as soon as possible, potentially including him in the squad traveling to Turin for Sunday’s high-profile clash against Juventus.
Conte’s options in attack have been severely limited by injuries and departures. With David Neres and Matteo Politano sidelined, and Lang and Lucca no longer in the squad, Napoli are operating in emergency mode. For the trip to the Allianz Stadium, Conte’s attacking choices would otherwise be restricted to Elmas, Højlund, young Vergara, and a Lukaku still managing his fitness.
Giovane’s immediate inclusion, even if only on the bench, would provide Conte with an additional solution at a critical moment in the season. Whether he makes his debut straight away or not, Napoli have clearly moved with urgency — and intent — to reinforce a squad still aiming to compete at the highest level.
