World Cup History
Jordan will make its FIFA World Cup debut in 2026 after decades of near misses and steady growth in Asian football.
A Historic Qualification
After nine failed attempts, Jordan finally secured its first-ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup. The breakthrough came thanks to a talented generation that already made history by reaching the AFC Asian Cup final.
Jordan topped its second-round qualifying group ahead of Saudi Arabia and continued its strong form under Jamal Sellami in the decisive stage, powered by an exciting attacking trio led by Mousa Al-Tamari, Yazan Al-Naimat and Ali Olwan.

Jordan’s Road To The World Cup
Jordan’s qualification journey included dominant victories, including a 7-0 win over Pakistan, and a decisive 3-0 triumph over Oman in June 2025. The team officially booked its place at the World Cup after Iraq lost to South Korea later that same day.
The achievement completed one of the greatest stories in Jordanian football history and confirmed the country’s rise as a serious force in Asian football.
Jordan’s Previous Closest Attempt
Before finally reaching the World Cup, Jordan came painfully close in the qualification campaign for Brazil 2014. Al Nashama defeated Uzbekistan on penalties in the AFC playoff before facing Uruguay in the intercontinental playoff.
The dream ultimately ended against a Uruguayan side featuring Luis Suárez, Edinson Cavani and Diego Forlán, but that generation laid the foundation for the historic breakthrough achieved in 2026.
