CREMONESE 0-0 GENOA: Chances but No Breakthrough at the Zini

Audero and Bijlow keep clean sheets as CREMONESE and GENOA settle for a scoreless draw that moves the table but satisfies neither side.

Serie A Matchday 25 ended with a stalemate at the Stadio Zini, where Cremonese and Genoa shared the points in a 0-0 draw.

The result nudged both teams up to 24 points—three clear of Lecce and Fiorentina—but did little to ease CREMONESE’s frustration, as Davide Nicola’s side extended their winless run to eleven league matches. GENOA, coached by Daniele De Rossi, at least halted a slide after back-to-back defeats.

First Half: Genoa Control, Goalkeepers Tested

The early tempo was lively. After five minutes, Jamie Vardy attempted a clever back-heel that failed to trouble Bijlow, while at the other end Emil Audero was quickly called into action—first denying Vásquez and then Vitinha during a strong opening spell from GENOA.

As the half wore on, the visitors increasingly dictated play, finishing the opening 45 minutes with 83% possession. Audero again proved decisive just before the break, pushing away Norton-Cuffy’s diagonal effort to keep the game scoreless at halftime.

Second Half: Pressure Builds, Woodwork Denies Cremonese

CREMONESE threatened first after the restart, Thorsby’s header drifting harmlessly wide. GENOA replied through Messias, whose shot missed narrowly on 53 minutes, while Djuric soon after failed to capitalize with his trademark header.

Nicola reshuffled, introducing Bonazzoli for a subdued Vardy and Grassi for Pajero, and the hosts finally began to apply sustained pressure. GENOA also rang the changes, handing a return debut to Baldanzi.

The decisive moment nearly arrived deep into stoppage time. Bonazzoli found space and struck a powerful effort that crashed off the crossbar, leaving the Zini gasping and sealing a goalless draw that could have swung either way.

CREMONESE now face a daunting trip to Rome to play Roma, while GENOA return to Marassi to host Torino.
