Baschirotto strikes late as Cremonese remain unbeaten, while Como drop key points in European race
Cremonese earned a valuable point away at Como in a hard-fought 1-1 draw, extending their unbeaten run to five Serie A matches.
Cesc Fabregas’ Como side controlled the game for long stretches, showing superior possession and attacking intent. Despite losing Sergi Roberto to injury after just 20 minutes, they took the lead shortly after through Nico Paz, who finished off a low cross from Jesus Rodriguez.
Como continued to dictate the tempo and pushed for a second goal, but failed to capitalize on their chances. Cremonese gradually grew into the match and found an equalizer in the 69th minute, with defender Federico Baschirotto heading home from a corner delivered by Vasquez.
The visitors were further boosted when Como were reduced to ten men following Rodriguez’s sending off for violent conduct after a VAR review.
The draw leaves Como frustrated as they drop two crucial points in their bid for European qualification, while Davide Nicola’s Cremonese move up to nine points, still unbeaten after five games.
