Juventus 0-2 Fiorentina: Ndour and Mandragora Shock Bianconeri in Turin

Fiorentina stun Juventus at the Allianz Stadium as the Bianconeri fall out of the Champions League places heading into the final weekend of the Serie A season.

Juventus FC suffered a devastating 2-0 home defeat against ACF Fiorentina in one of the biggest surprises of Serie A Matchday 37, dramatically complicating their hopes of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

What could have been a decisive weekend in Juventus’ favor instead turned into a nightmare in Turin, with the Bianconeri slipping to sixth place and no longer controlling their own destiny heading into the final matchday.

Fiorentina, despite already securing safety and having little left to play for in the standings, arrived in Turin with intensity and confidence from the opening whistle. Juventus eventually began to dominate possession midway through the first half, but David De Gea and an outstanding Viola defense repeatedly denied the hosts.

The breakthrough came in the 34th minute through one of Fiorentina’s brightest players of the night. Solomon did brilliantly to protect the ball near the edge of the box before slipping a perfectly weighted pass into the path of Cher Ndour, who beat Michele Di Gregorio with a composed finish to silence the Allianz Stadium.

Luciano Spalletti attempted to change the momentum after halftime, introducing Jeremie Boga and shifting Juventus into a far more attacking shape. The Bianconeri pushed hard and twice found the net through Weston McKennie and Dusan Vlahovic, but both goals were ruled out — the first for a foul on Robin Gosens and the second for offside.

As Juventus continued to press forward, Fiorentina remained dangerous on the counterattack and eventually sealed the result in spectacular fashion. In the 83rd minute, Rolando Mandragora curled a stunning strike into the top corner from outside the area, leaving Di Gregorio with no chance and ending Juventus’ hopes of a comeback.

The defeat leaves Juventus needing a positive result in the Derby della Mole against Torino on the final day, while also relying on favorable results elsewhere to salvage Champions League qualification.
