Inter completed a domestic double by defeating Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia final at the Stadio Olimpico, thanks to an own goal from Adam Marusic and a second-half strike from Lautaro Martinez.
Inter capped off a memorable season in style on Wednesday night, beating Lazio 2-0 in Rome to lift the Coppa Italia trophy for the tenth time in club history.
Fresh off securing the Serie A title, Cristian Chivu’s side controlled the final from the opening stages and effectively decided the contest before halftime with two goals that punished costly Lazio mistakes.
Inter dominated possession early without playing at a particularly high tempo, but their territorial superiority immediately created problems for Maurizio Sarri’s team.
The breakthrough arrived in the 14th minute from a corner delivered by Federico Dimarco. Lazio defender Adam Marusic attempted to clear the cross but instead headed the ball into his own net, giving Inter an early advantage.
The Nerazzurri grew in confidence after taking the lead and continued exploiting the spaces left by Lazio’s defensive line. Their second goal came in the 35th minute following a major error from Nuno Tavares during buildup play.
Denzel Dumfries quickly intercepted the loose ball and surged forward before squaring for Lautaro Martinez, who tapped into an empty net from close range to make it 2-0.
Lazio struggled to respond but nearly pulled one back before halftime when Gustav Isaksen forced Alessandro Bastoni into an important block.
The second half followed a similar pattern. Inter remained compact defensively while Lazio found it difficult to create clear scoring opportunities.
Tavares nearly gifted Inter another goal shortly before the hour mark when another mistake allowed Dumfries to break forward again, though goalkeeper Motta managed to intervene before Marcus Thuram could finish.
As the match progressed, Lazio increased the pressure in search of a comeback, but Inter’s defensive organization held firm without significant trouble.
At the final whistle, the Nerazzurri celebrated another trophy and completed an extraordinary season with both the Serie A title and Coppa Italia crown.
