Inter delivered another dominant performance at the Stadio Olimpico, cruising past Lazio 3-0 behind goals from Lautaro Martinez, Petar Sucic, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a Serie A Matchday 36 showdown.
Fresh off clinching the 2025/26 Serie A title, Inter showed no signs of slowing down on Sunday night, comfortably defeating Lazio in Rome just days before the two sides meet again in the Coppa Italia final.
The Nerazzurri immediately imposed their rhythm and opened the scoring after only six minutes. A long throw-in from Diouf created chaos in the Lazio area before Marcus Thuram flicked the ball into the path of Lautaro Martinez, who finished first time to end his month-long scoring drought.
Inter remained firmly in control throughout the opening half and doubled their advantage in the 39th minute. Midfielder Petar Sucic capped off an impressive display with a precise left-footed strike from outside the box that gave Lazio goalkeeper Motta no chance.
Lazio struggled to create meaningful attacking opportunities against Inter’s organized midfield and back line. Mattia Zaccagni’s absence was noticeable, while Matteo Cancellieri endured a frustrating evening on the wing as the Biancocelesti failed to generate offensive momentum.
With the Coppa Italia final looming later in the week, the pace slowed considerably after halftime. However, Lazio’s situation worsened when Alessio Romagnoli received a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Ange-Yoan Bonny. Referee Abisso initially showed the defender red immediately before confirming the decision after a VAR review.
Inter took full advantage of the numerical superiority and sealed the victory in the 76th minute. Bonny provided the assist and Henrikh Mkhitaryan calmly finished to make it 3-0 and complete another convincing performance from Cristian Chivu’s side.
The reigning champions now head into the Coppa Italia final full of confidence, while Lazio will need a much sharper performance if they hope to reverse the result in Wednesday’s rematch.
