Atalanta 0-0 Genoa: Raspadori Hits the Bar as Europa Hopes Fade

Goalless draw on Matchday 35 leaves Atalanta with ground to make up in the European race

Atalanta’s push for European qualification suffered another setback as they were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw at home against Genoa, in a match short on quality and clear-cut chances.

The result leaves Gianluca Palladino’s side with an increasingly difficult path toward Europe, as inconsistency continues to plague their final stretch of the season.

Genoa actually started brighter and threatened inside the opening minutes, with Vitinha firing a weak effort from a promising position. Atalanta, despite deploying a two-striker setup with Scamacca and Krstovic, struggled to impose themselves in the first half.

The hosts relied heavily on flashes of creativity from Charles De Ketelaere, but their buildup remained slow and predictable, resulting in a largely uneventful opening 45 minutes.

The game opened slightly in the second half. Just before the hour mark, Palladino introduced Giacomo Raspadori, who quickly became involved in the key moments of the match. First, he failed to capitalize on a rebound opportunity following a powerful strike from Ederson that was parried by Bijlow.

Atalanta pushed harder in the final stages, with Krstovic testing the goalkeeper from a tight angle. The closest they came to breaking the deadlock arrived with 15 minutes remaining, when Raspadori unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box that crashed against the crossbar.

It proved to be the last real chance of the match, as both teams settled for a point in a game defined more by balance than brilliance.
