Inter blow two-goal lead on Matchday 34, Torino fight back through Simeone and Vlasic penalty
Inter’s march toward the Serie A title hit another unexpected bump as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Torino at the Olimpico Grande Torino. Despite taking a comfortable two-goal lead, the Nerazzurri collapsed in the second half, allowing the hosts to claw their way back in a dramatic Matchday 34 encounter.
Simone Inzaghi’s side—still firmly in control of the Scudetto race—missed the chance to tighten their grip at the top, though the title remains a matter of when, not if.
Inter started in control and broke through in the 23rd minute. Federico Dimarco delivered a precise cross into the box, where Marcus Thuram rose highest to head home the opener. It was another assist for Dimarco, who continues to dominate Serie A’s playmaking charts.
The visitors maintained their composure and doubled their lead just after the hour mark. Once again, Dimarco was the architect, swinging in another dangerous cross that Yann Bisseck converted with a powerful header to make it 2-0.
At that point, the game seemed all but decided. Torino had offered little attacking threat, failing to register significant chances. But the match took a sudden turn in the final 20 minutes.
Giovanni Simeone reignited the contest in the 70th minute, capitalizing on a rare opportunity to pull one back. The goal shifted momentum, and Inter began to lose control under Torino’s growing pressure.
The equalizer came from the penalty spot in the 79th minute. Nikola Vlašić stepped up and calmly converted after a foul by Carlos Augusto, completing Torino’s comeback and sealing a surprising draw.
Inter pushed for a late winner but lacked sharpness in the closing stages. The result leaves their Scudetto celebrations on hold, with the title potentially to be decided in the next round depending on results against Parma and Napoli’s clash with Como.
For Torino, already safe, the comeback showcased resilience and pride. For Inter, it was another reminder that even dominant teams can lose focus—and pay the price.
