Fiorentina continue their strong run with a narrow victory, moving closer to Serie A safety on Matchday 32.
Fiorentina earned a valuable 1-0 win over Lazio at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, thanks to a decisive first-half header from Robin Gosens. The result marks their second consecutive victory and third in the last four matches, pushing them eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Lazio started brightly and nearly took the lead inside the opening minutes. Mattia Zaccagni, returning to the starting lineup after a month out, tested David De Gea with a curling effort that required an excellent save. The Fiorentina goalkeeper was called into action again shortly after, denying Matteo Cancellieri to keep the match level.
Despite Lazio’s early pressure, Fiorentina struck first in the 28th minute. A well-worked move down the right saw Dodo release Harrison, whose first-time cross found Gosens at the far post. The German wing-back rose well and guided a powerful header into the net, giving the hosts the advantage.
Lazio pushed for an equalizer, but Fiorentina remained organized and dangerous on the counter. The visitors thought they might have a chance from the penalty spot in the second half, when Noslin went down in the box under minimal contact. However, after a VAR review, the referee confirmed the initial decision and booked the forward for simulation.
The Biancocelesti continued to search for a breakthrough. Substitute Ratkov came close with a header, once again denied by an alert De Gea, while Pedro had a late opportunity in stoppage time that failed to trouble the Fiorentina defense.
In the end, Fiorentina held firm, securing three crucial points that bring them closer to mathematical safety. Lazio, meanwhile, lacked cutting edge in the final third and left Florence empty-handed.
