Roma 1-0 Lecce: Robinio Vaz Ends Drought as Giallorossi Return to Winning Ways

Substitute Robinio Vaz scores the decisive goal as Roma edge Lecce and revive their top-four hopes on Serie A Matchday 30.

Roma returned to winning ways in Serie A with a narrow 1–0 victory over Lecce at the Stadio Olimpico, ending a month-long winless run and reigniting their push for a Champions League spot.

It was not a dominant performance from Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, but it was an effective one, with young forward Robinio Vaz proving decisive after coming off the bench.

Roma controlled possession from the outset, dictating the tempo against a Lecce side content to sit deep and look for counterattacking opportunities.

Despite their territorial dominance, the Giallorossi struggled to break down Lecce’s compact defensive shape. The hosts thought they had taken the lead in the 21st minute through Niccolò Pisilli, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR check.

The first half ended without major chances, but Roma returned from the break with greater urgency.

The breakthrough came in the 57th minute. Hermoso delivered a well-weighted cross into the box, and Robinio Vaz—introduced moments earlier—rose to meet it and headed the ball past Wladimiro Falcone to give Roma the lead.

The goal shifted the momentum. Lecce pushed forward in search of an equalizer and nearly found it in the 73rd minute when Pierotti’s header beat Mile Svilar, only for Hermoso to make a crucial clearance off the line.

Roma regained control in the final stages, managing the tempo and limiting Lecce’s chances as they protected their slender advantage.

The win lifts Roma closer to the top four, drawing level with Juventus and moving within striking distance of Como in fourth place.

For Lecce, the defeat marks another setback in their fight against relegation, leaving them entrenched near the bottom of the table.
