Genoa 0-2 Udinese: Late Goals Seal Away Win at the Ferraris

Ekkelenkamp and Davis strike late as Udinese punish Genoa after missed chances in a decisive Serie A Matchday 30 clash.

Udinese secured an important 2–0 victory away to Genoa, scoring twice in the final stages to claim all three points at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

After a largely balanced match in which Genoa created the better chances, Kosta Runjaic’s side capitalized on their opportunities late on, climbing into tenth place in the Serie A standings.

The opening phases saw Genoa take control and threaten repeatedly. Ruslan Malinovskyi and Lorenzo Colombo both came close in the first half, each hitting the crossbar in what were the clearest chances of the match.

Udinese, meanwhile, struggled to create meaningful opportunities and relied heavily on goalkeeper Maduka Okoye to stay in the game.

The turning point came in the second half after a controversial moment. Referee Collu initially awarded Genoa a penalty for a handball by Christian Kabasele but overturned the decision following an on-field review, leaving the hosts frustrated.

As Genoa pushed forward, Udinese struck. In the 66th minute, Nicolò Zaniolo delivered a precise cross into the box that found Jurgen Ekkelenkamp, who rose highest and headed the ball past Justin Bijlow to give the visitors the lead.

Genoa attempted to respond but lacked precision in front of goal. A particularly costly miss came when Vitinha failed to convert from close range with the goal at his mercy.

In stoppage time, Udinese sealed the victory. With Genoa fully committed to attack, a quick counterattack saw Keinan Davis break forward at pace and finish confidently to make it 2–0.

The result ends Genoa’s positive run after wins against Roma and Verona but leaves them still comfortably above the relegation zone. Udinese, on the other hand, bounce back from their defeat to Juventus and move into the top half of the table.
