Lecce coach calls for intensity, tactical intelligence, and balance as his side prepares for a daunting trip to face Inter
Facing Inter is never simple — and according to Eusebio Di Francesco, it may require Lecce’s most complete performance of the season.
Speaking before the Serie A Round 26 showdown, the Lecce manager acknowledged the magnitude of the challenge awaiting his team.
“In the league, Inter are practically unbeatable,” Di Francesco said. “They’re difficult to face and have solutions everywhere on the pitch. They’ve been built to win on every front.”
Match Their Intensity — Or Go Beyond It
Inter may be coming off a Champions League setback, but Di Francesco believes that could make them even more dangerous.
“We’ll face a team that’s annoyed by their European defeat,” he noted. “In Serie A they’ve been extremely consistent. We have to approach them with determination and spirit.”
For Lecce to have a chance, the coach insists on one fundamental principle: intensity.
“Our intensity must be higher than theirs. At the very least, we have to match their physical and running characteristics — if not exceed them,” he explained. “If you lose individual duels, you have to compensate tactically, creating superiority in other areas of the pitch.”
Squad Depth and Smart Game Management
Di Francesco also dismissed any suggestion that Inter might be weakened by potential absences.
“If they have injuries, imagine what we should say when we’re missing players,” he added. “They have the depth to compensate for anyone.”
Instead, Lecce’s strategy will revolve around balance and timing. “The match has to stay open until the end,” he said. “Or at least be managed well for the first 60 minutes. We might benefit slightly from their long midweek travel — maybe fatigue could help us.”
On Banda and Selection Doubts
When asked whether Lameck Banda would start, Di Francesco kept his cards close to his chest.
“I’ll never answer questions about who will play,” he smiled. “We have players with different characteristics who can make the difference.”
Despite recent positive results, the coach offered a measured assessment of his side’s form. “These have been the best ten days of the season in terms of results,” he admitted. “But performance-wise, I’m not completely satisfied.”
Against an Inter side that rarely slips, Lecce will need not only effort and discipline — but near perfection.
