The attacking midfielder arrives in Milan ahead of his switch to Genoa, while Roma secure a promising 2006-born winger
Tommaso Baldanzi’s move to Genoa is entering its final stages. After days of waiting, the deal has finally unlocked, with the Roma midfielder arriving in Milan and openly expressing his enthusiasm for the next step of his career.
Speaking upon arrival, Baldanzi made it clear that Daniele De Rossi played a decisive role in his choice. The two worked together during De Rossi’s time at Roma, and the coach’s vision convinced the 2003-born playmaker to embrace the Genoa project. Baldanzi stressed his desire to help the Rossoblù achieve their objectives, putting personal ambitions — including national team considerations — firmly on hold.
The transfer, however, is not a simple one-way move. As part of the agreement between Roma and Genoa, young winger Lorenzo Venturino is set to travel to the capital. Born in 2006, Venturino will join Roma on loan with an option to buy, mirroring the structure of Baldanzi’s move in the opposite direction.
Venturino is considered one of Genoa’s most intriguing young prospects. A quick, attack-minded wide player, he came through the club’s academy and made his Serie A debut last season — ironically at the Olimpico against Roma. He announced himself with a brace on the final matchday against Bologna and has since accumulated 11 senior appearances across league and cup competitions.
Despite his early promise, Venturino’s playing time has decreased in recent months, making this move a strategic opportunity for all parties. Roma view him as a developmental signing with upside, a profile that fits the club’s desire to invest in young attacking talent capable of growing under Gian Piero Gasperini’s demanding system.
The operation has been coordinated by agent Beppe Riso, who represents both players and maintains strong ties with Roma’s leadership. While final details are still being ironed out, confidence is high in both Rome and Genoa that the deal will be completed shortly.
For Baldanzi, Genoa represents a chance to restart with continuity and responsibility. For Roma, the arrival of Venturino adds youth, speed, and potential at a moment when attacking depth is being reshaped following recent departures.
