Lecce 0-2 Roma: Ferguson and Dovbyk Fire Giallorossi Back on Track

Roma deliver a convincing away performance at the Via del Mare as goals from Ferguson and Dovbyk seal three points on Matchday 18.

A confident and controlled display saw Roma claim a 2-0 away win over Lecce, securing their first league victory of 2026 and moving back toward the upper reaches of the Serie A table.

At the Via del Mare, Roma imposed their technical superiority from the opening minutes, dictating the tempo and pinning Lecce deep in their own half. The Giallorossi’s approach paid off midway through the first half when Ferguson broke the deadlock in the 14th minute, finishing right-footed after a moment of brilliance from Paulo Dybala, who slipped a perfectly weighted assist through the defense.

Even after taking the lead, Roma kept their foot on the gas. El Shaarawy caused repeated problems down the flank, while Pisilli had a second goal ruled out for offside. Ferguson himself came close to doubling the advantage, denied only by an excellent save from Falcone as Roma ended the first half firmly in control.

The pattern of the match remained largely unchanged after the break, though Lecce showed more ambition and briefly threatened around the hour mark with Pierotti. That moment aside, Roma never lost their grip on the game.

The decisive blow arrived in the 71st minute. From a corner kick, Pisilli’s driven delivery caused chaos in the box and Artem Dovbyk reacted quickest at close range, diverting the ball past Falcone to make it 2-0. The goal ended the Ukrainian striker’s scoring drought, though his night ended prematurely due to another injury setback.

With the match effectively put to bed, Roma managed the closing stages comfortably, sealing their 12th win of the season. The victory lifts the Giallorossi closer to the European places, while Lecce are once again forced to glance nervously toward the relegation zone.
