Napoli 2-0 Bologna: Neres Storm Leads Azzurri to Supercoppa Glory

A dominant Napoli performance in Riyadh delivers the club’s third Supercoppa Italiana, as David Neres scores twice to overwhelm Bologna in their first-ever final.

Napoli claimed the 2025 Supercoppa Italiana in convincing fashion, defeating Bologna 2-0 with a commanding display that underlined their status as one of Italy’s elite sides.

Antonio Conte’s team controlled the match from start to finish, showing intensity, quality, and physical dominance, while Bologna struggled to cope on the big stage.

From the opening minutes, Napoli set the tone. The Azzurri dictated possession and tempo, immediately pinning Bologna deep in their own half. The first clear chance fell to Eljif Elmas, brilliantly set up by Scott McTominay, but the midfielder dragged his effort wide in a one-on-one with Ravaglia.

Napoli continued to push. Ravaglia kept Bologna alive with solid saves on McTominay and Spinazzola—released by a clever assist from a tireless Rasmus Højlund—but resistance finally broke in the 39th minute.

David Neres collected the ball outside the box and curled a precise left-footed shot into the top corner, a strike that perfectly reflected Napoli’s superiority.

The script remained unchanged after halftime. Bologna attempted to respond through wide play, with Orsolini and Cambiaghi trying to inject pace, and Ferguson forcing a header on target from a cross, but Napoli never lost control.

The decisive moment arrived in the 57th minute: Ravaglia misplayed a clearance toward Lucumí, Neres anticipated the error, drove toward goal, and calmly chipped the goalkeeper to complete his brace.

From there, Napoli managed the match with authority. Conte’s side created further chances to extend the lead, while Bologna’s defensive line—particularly Heggem and Lucumí—remained under constant pressure from Højlund’s physical presence and Napoli’s fluid movement.

The final whistle confirmed a deserved triumph for Napoli, who lift their third Supercoppa Italiana and add another trophy to their recent golden era. Bologna leave Riyadh empty-handed, but the experience of a first major final remains a milestone in their growth.
