After a 1–1 draw in regulation time, Bologna hold their nerve from the spot in Riyadh and knock out Inter to reach the Italian Super Cup final.
Bologna are through to the Italian Super Cup final after a dramatic 4–3 victory on penalties over Inter, following a 1–1 draw at the end of regulation time in Riyadh. Vincenzo Italiano’s side showed composure, resilience, and outstanding goalkeeping to eliminate the Nerazzurri and set up a final clash with Napoli.
Inter made the perfect start, striking after just two minutes. Marcus Thuram met a Bastoni cross with a crisp volley that beat Ravaglia and immediately tilted the match in Chivu’s favor. Bologna initially struggled to settle but gradually raised their intensity, pressing higher and growing into the game.
The Rossoblù were rewarded in the 35th minute when a handball by Bisseck inside the box was spotted after a VAR review. Riccardo Orsolini stepped up and confidently converted the penalty straight down the middle to level the score at 1–1.
The remainder of the match was finely balanced. Inter pushed harder after the break and briefly thought they had earned a penalty of their own, only for the decision to be overturned following an on-field review. Bologna relied on organization and the safe hands of Ravaglia, who kept them alive through Inter’s late pressure.
With no extra time scheduled, the semifinal went straight to penalties. The shootout quickly turned chaotic, with multiple misses on both sides. Bologna proved more composed in the decisive moments, and after Immobile converted the final spot-kick, the Rossoblù could celebrate a historic qualification for the Supercoppa final.
For Inter, it was a bitter exit marked by missed opportunities from the penalty spot. For Bologna, it was a statement performance on a big stage, confirming their growing confidence and ambition.
