Atalanta dominate in Bergamo with a brace from De Ketelaere and goals from Scalvini and Zalewski. N’Dri scores a late stunner for Lecce, but it’s not enough.
Atalanta claimed their first victory of the Serie A season in emphatic fashion, defeating Lecce 4-1 at the New Balance Arena. Ivan Juric’s side delivered a dominant second-half performance, led by a brilliant Charles De Ketelaere, who scored twice and inspired his team to a crucial win.
The first half was evenly contested for over 30 minutes, with Lecce holding their own before Atalanta’s quality began to shine through. The breakthrough came in the 37th minute when Scalvini rose highest to head home from a corner delivered by an inspired Zalewski, giving the home side a 1-0 lead.
Early in the second half, Atalanta took control. In the 51st minute, De Ketelaere curled a precise shot into the bottom corner to double the advantage. Zalewski added the third in the 70th minute with a powerful effort at the near post, having already struck the crossbar with a free kick earlier in the match.
Just four minutes later, De Ketelaere struck again, capitalizing on a disastrous defensive mistake by Siebert to make it 4-0 and seal the points for the home side.
Lecce found a late consolation goal in the 82nd minute through substitute N’Dri, who cut inside and unleashed a spectacular left-footed strike into the top corner — a moment of individual brilliance in an otherwise disappointing performance for Di Francesco’s men.
With the victory, Atalanta move up to five points, while Lecce remain stuck on one after three matches.
