Touchdown Italia: An American Dream Brings Italian Football to the United States

On June 25, at the President’s Hall of Palazzo H in Rome, institutions, sports and culture come together for the first national screening of the film dedicated to the Italian Bowl played in Ohio. Among the expected guests are CONI President Luciano Buonfiglio and FIDAF President Leoluca Orlando.

The prestigious President’s Hall at Palazzo H, headquarters of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), will host the Italian premiere of Touchdown Italia: An American Dream on Thursday, June 25, at 4:00 p.m. The documentary film, produced by N41 Studios in association with LuckyHorn Entertainment, tells the remarkable story of how the Italian Bowl, the championship game of Italy’s top-tier American football league, was played in the United States.

The film follows the journey of the 2025 Italian Football League finalists, Guelfi Firenze and Dolphins Ancona, who competed in the XLIV Italian Bowl in Toledo, Ohio. Through exclusive footage, personal testimonies and emotional moments captured in the heartland of American football, the documentary offers a unique look at the growth of the sport in Italy.

More than a sports documentary, however, Touchdown Italia: An American Dream is a story about passion, identity and international cooperation. It highlights the role of sports as a bridge between cultures and as a tool for strengthening diplomatic ties between Italy and the United States.

The event will open with welcoming remarks from CONI President Luciano Buonfiglio, followed by speeches from Italian Federation of American Football President Leoluca Orlando, Allegra Baistrocchi—an Italian diplomat currently serving at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Consul General in Detroit, who was among the leading supporters of the project—and director Davide Ippolito, who will guide attendees through the origins and significance of the documentary.

Among the expected guests are representatives from national institutions and the Italian sports community, including secretaries general and executives from several sports federations, as well as figures from the entertainment industry and civil society.

The June 25 premiere also serves as the first event leading up to the 2026 Italian Bowl Weekend, scheduled to take place in Ferrara from July 2 to July 5. It reflects FIDAF’s commitment to promoting American football not only as a competitive sport but also as an opportunity for cultural exchange, international relationships and the promotion of Italy’s excellence abroad.

Touchdown Italia: An American Dream tells an Italian story with a global perspective: the story of a movement that, after more than forty years of development, continues to build bridges with the United States and carry its values far beyond the playing field.
