Negotiations between Paulo Dybala and Roma continue without a breakthrough, while interest from Boca Juniors adds another layer of uncertainty to the Argentine star’s future.
The future of Paulo Dybala remains one of Roma’s biggest unresolved issues heading into the new season. Despite weeks of discussions, the club and the Argentine forward have yet to reach an agreement over a contract extension, with financial terms proving to be the main obstacle.
According to reports in Italy, Roma have put forward a proposal worth €2 million per season in guaranteed salary, supplemented by a performance-related bonus of €60,000 for every appearance in which Dybala plays at least 45 minutes.
The 32-year-old attacker is seeking improved conditions and has reportedly presented two alternatives to the club. The first would include a fixed annual salary of €3 million with reduced appearance bonuses, while the second would maintain the €2 million base salary but grant the €60,000 bonus for every match appearance, regardless of how many minutes he spends on the pitch.
As negotiations drag on and the June 30 deadline approaches, speculation over Dybala’s long-term future has inevitably intensified.
Adding intrigue to the situation are reports emerging from Argentina suggesting that Boca Juniors have already begun laying the groundwork for a potential move. ESPN correspondent sources claim that newly appointed Boca coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena has personally contacted Dybala to explain his sporting project and reiterate the club’s strong desire to bring the former Juventus star back to Argentina.
Boca’s interest is not new, but the direct involvement of Arruabarrena could represent a significant step in trying to convince the player to consider a return home after several successful seasons in European football.
For the moment, however, Roma remain confident that an agreement can still be reached. The club considers Dybala a central figure in its project, while the player has repeatedly expressed his affection for the city and its supporters.
The coming days could prove decisive. Whether Dybala extends his stay in the Italian capital or begins to seriously evaluate Boca Juniors’ advances, one thing is certain: his future remains wide open.
