Haaland Leads Norway Back To The World Stage After 28 Years

NORWAY
The Golden Generation returns to the FIFA World Cup after a 28-year absence.
Head Coach
Ståle Solbakken has guided Norway back to football’s biggest stage for the first time since 1998. A former World Cup player himself, the experienced coach has built a balanced team around elite attacking talent.

Qualification Record
Norway stormed through qualifying with eight wins from eight matches, scoring 37 goals and conceding only five. Erling Haaland finished with 16 goals.
The Return Of A Sleeping Giant
After nearly three decades away from the FIFA World Cup, Norway finally returns with perhaps the most talented generation in its modern history. Expectations are enormous around a squad featuring global superstars Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard.
The Scandinavian side dominated UEFA qualifying with a perfect record and several statement victories, including a crushing 4-1 win over Italy at San Siro. Norway now arrives in North America believing it can do far more than simply participate.

Norway’s Greatest World Cup Moment
Norway’s most iconic World Cup memory came in France 1998. Facing defending champions Brazil and needing a victory to qualify for the knockout stage, the Norwegians produced a dramatic comeback in Marseille.
After Bebeto gave Brazil the lead, Tore André Flo equalized before Kjetil Rekdal converted a late penalty to secure a historic 2-1 victory — still one of the greatest results in Norwegian football history.
