FIFA World Cup 2026 – Group A
The Big Picture
South Korea enters the 2026 FIFA World Cup as one of Asia’s most experienced and consistent football nations. The Taegeuk Warriors qualified for their 11th consecutive World Cup and will compete in the tournament for the 12th time overall.
After reaching the Round of 16 at Qatar 2022, South Korea hopes to combine experience, discipline, and attacking talent to make another deep run on the global stage.
Coach
Hong Myung-bo returned as South Korea head coach in 2024, a decade after his previous spell leading the national team. One of the greatest players in Korean football history, Hong represented his country in four World Cups and captained the historic 2002 squad that reached the semi-finals.
Before returning to the national team, Hong enjoyed major success with Ulsan HD, winning consecutive K League 1 titles in 2022 and 2023.
