Spectacular first-half goals from Orsolini, Odgaard and Castro seal a crucial away win as Italiano’s side climb back toward the European spots on Matchday 16.
Bologna finally found a way to turn their season around with a thrilling 3-2 comeback win away to Hellas Verona, in the rescheduled Matchday 16 fixture originally postponed due to the Rossoblù’s participation in the Italian Super Cup.
After a difficult run of form, Vincenzo Italiano’s side responded with character and quality, overturning an early deficit and leaving the Bentegodi with three vital points. All five goals came from moments of brilliance, four of them packed into an explosive first half that decided the match.
Verona struck first through Cyril Ngonge Orban, who continues to be one of the few bright spots in a tough campaign for the Gialloblù. The move was sparked by a sensational run from Bernede, who collected the ball from a corner and carried it across the pitch before setting up Orban for a clinical right-footed finish.
Bologna reacted immediately. Riccardo Orsolini leveled the score with a trademark left-footed strike, before Jens Odgaard completed the turnaround with a precise shot into the corner. Just before halftime, Santiago Castro produced the goal of the night: a powerful effort from outside the box that clipped the crossbar before beating Montipò.
The match slowed down after the break, but Verona were given a lifeline in the 72nd minute when Remo Freuler accidentally turned the ball into his own net. Despite late pressure, the hosts were unable to complete the comeback, confirming another damaging defeat that leaves them bottom of the table, level on points with Pisa.
For Bologna, the win lifts them above Lazio into seventh place and back within touching distance of the Europa League zone, offering renewed optimism after a disappointing stretch.
