An early shock from the visitors, a quick reaction from Vlahović, and a balanced second half leave Juventus and Sporting sharing the spoils at the Allianz Stadium.
It finished all square in Turin as Juventus and Sporting Lisbon played out an entertaining 1–1 draw in their highly anticipated European clash.
The Bianconeri started brightly, with Vlahović testing Rui Silva early, but it was the Portuguese side who struck first. After 12 minutes, Sporting built a flowing move that ended with Araújo’s precise low finish into the far corner, leaving Di Gregorio with no chance. Moments later, Trincão nearly doubled the lead with a deflected effort that clipped the crossbar.
Juventus responded through their Serbian striker. In the 34th minute, Yildiz and Thuram combined beautifully down the right before delivering for Vlahović, who fired home first time to level the match. The goal energized the crowd and restored Juve’s confidence heading into halftime.
The second half saw both sides probing without much success. Thuram and Conceição had half-chances for Juve, while Trincão and Gonçalves threatened in transition for the visitors. Late in the game, substitute Catamo curled a dangerous effort just wide, and Juventus came close to snatching victory when David’s late header was acrobatically turned over by Rui Silva.
Despite the draw, Juventus can take positives from their attacking movement, while Sporting once again proved their resilience away from home.
