Bologna snatched a thrilling late victory at home, coming from behind to beat Genoa 2-1 in a dramatic Serie A clash at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. Riccardo Orsolini converted a penalty in stoppage time to complete the comeback after Santiago Castro had leveled the match following Albert Gudmundsson Ellertsson’s opener for the visitors.
The Rossoblù started strong and thought they had taken the lead early when Castro finished off a pass from Federico Bernardeschi, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Genoa responded with a clear chance for Martin, whose shot was superbly saved by Skorupski. Orsolini twice went close before halftime but couldn’t find the target.
The breakthrough finally came early in the second half — for Genoa. Ellertsson latched onto a pass from Malinovskyi and blasted home from close range to give the visitors the lead.
Bologna reacted immediately, with Castro denied by a brilliant save from Leali before finally breaking through. In the 71st minute, the Argentine striker anticipated the defense and skillfully flicked the ball into the net to make it 1-1.
As the match entered its closing stages, Orsolini struck the crossbar with a header, hinting at what was to come. Deep into stoppage time, a handball by Carboni handed Bologna a penalty. Orsolini stepped up under immense pressure and converted with composure, sealing all three points for Vincenzo Italiano’s side.
