Chivu Celebrates Inter Double: “This Coppa Italia Was Deserved”

Dumfries jokes about Lautaro’s complaints after decisive assist: “He was angry because I wasn’t giving him enough”

Inter Milan completed a remarkable domestic double after defeating Lazio in the Coppa Italia final, and head coach Cristian Chivu insisted the triumph was fully earned.

Fresh off their Serie A title win, the Nerazzurri added a tenth Coppa Italia to their trophy cabinet, sealing a historic season that brought the club its first domestic double in 16 years.

“We deserved it. We had a very good season,” Chivu said after the final whistle.
“We are all happy for what we overcame, for the fans and for the club, which always supported us.”

The Inter coach highlighted how difficult it is to sustain success over an entire campaign.

“It’s never guaranteed or easy to complete a season like this and win two trophies.”

“Let’s enjoy what we achieved”

Asked whether this could be the beginning of another winning cycle for Inter, Chivu preferred to stay grounded.

“Right now we just want to enjoy what we achieved this season,” he explained.

The Romanian coach, who already knew what it meant to win at Inter from his playing days, has now delivered silverware in his first season on the bench—despite doubts surrounding his appointment at the start of the campaign.

Lautaro: “Chivu deserves a 10”

Captain Lautaro Martínez was full of praise for his coach after lifting another trophy.

“The double means a lot,” Lautaro said.
“It wasn’t easy to start again after what happened last year. But we managed to have a great season in terms of football, results and intensity.”

The Argentine striker also gave Chivu a perfect rating for his work.

“A score for Chivu? Ten. He gave us enormous help.”

Dumfries jokes: “Lautaro was angry”

One of the lighter moments of the post-match celebrations came from Denzel Dumfries, who joked about his connection with Lautaro after providing another assist.

“After a difficult period, I came back and I’m happy to help my teammates and provide assists for Lautaro,” Dumfries laughed.
“He was getting angry because I wasn’t giving him enough.”

The Dutch wing-back also addressed the scrutiny that constantly surrounds Inter.

“People always talk a lot about Inter, but that’s because of what we’ve been doing over these years. We just have to continue like this.”

Inter’s hunger remains intact

After securing both the Scudetto and Coppa Italia, Inter have reaffirmed themselves as the dominant force in Italian football.

And judging by Chivu’s calm leadership and the confidence inside the dressing room, the Nerazzurri are already determined to keep winning.
