🏆Marotta Celebrates Inter’s Title: “This Is Chivu’s Scudetto—He Can Stay Here for Years”

Nerazzurri president hails 21st title, backs coach and outlines future strategy built on youth and experience

Inter Milan are champions of Italy once again, and club president Giuseppe Marotta made it clear who deserves the credit after securing the club’s 21st Scudetto.

Speaking after the title-clinching moment, Marotta praised both the team and head coach Cristian Chivu, emphasizing the bold decision that led to their triumph.

“This is the Scudetto of Chivu and the team,” Marotta said. “It’s something that cannot be erased—an important achievement. It’s a dream come true. I never imagined reaching this point.”

For Marotta, this marks his tenth personal league title, the first as Inter president—an emotional milestone in a career already filled with success.

“My first thanks go to the presidents who came before me—figures far more deserving than me and true sources of inspiration,” he added, mentioning names such as Massimo Moratti and Steven Zhang.
“But also to our incredible fans and the ownership, who allowed us to work in a calm environment.”

“We chose Chivu with courage”

Marotta revealed how quickly Inter moved to appoint Chivu after parting ways with Simone Inzaghi last summer.

“We resolved the situation with Inzaghi on a Monday, and by Tuesday we had already decided to focus on Chivu. We did it with courage,” he explained.
“He had a winning background as a player—the Treble, leadership at Ajax at a young age—and important experience with Inter’s Primavera and Parma.”

Despite initial doubts over his lack of senior coaching experience, Inter stood firmly behind their choice.

“The only thing he might have lacked was experience, and we supported him in that. He has great qualities—he can and must stay at Inter for many years.”

Trust over panic in difficult moments

The early part of the season tested that conviction, with defeats raising questions about Chivu’s future. But Marotta dismissed any idea of a mid-season change.

“After those negative results, we understood the team was united and that the coach was their leader,” he said.
“In my career, I’ve never sacked a coach during the season. The coach must be supported. In our culture, the coach doesn’t pay for everything.”

That stability ultimately proved decisive as Inter surged toward the title.

A clear vision for the future

Looking ahead, Marotta outlined the club’s transfer philosophy, stressing the importance of balance within the squad.

“We talk about the future every day—with the coach, with Ausilio and Baccin. We have very clear ideas,” he said.
“The group has grown together over the years, and that’s important. We want a strong Italian core, but also experienced foreign players.”

He highlighted the need to combine emerging talent with seasoned winners.

“We want to sign the best Italian talents—players like Alessandro Bastoni are a guarantee. There are many good players in Serie A who could fit us,” Marotta noted.
“At the same time, experienced foreign players bring something crucial: a winning mentality. To succeed, you need the right mix.”

A title built on belief

Inter’s 21st Scudetto is not just another trophy—it’s the result of a long-term project built on trust, continuity, and bold decisions.

And if Marotta’s words are anything to go by, this may only be the beginning of a new cycle under Chivu.
