Milan–Inter Derby Set to Break Serie A Attendance Revenue Record

More than 75,000 fans expected at San Siro as ticket sales approach €9 million

Sunday’s showdown between AC Milan and Inter Milan will make history before kickoff even begins.

The latest edition of the Milan derby is set to become the highest-grossing match ever played in Serie A history, with ticket revenue expected to surpass €8.7 million and potentially approach the €9 million mark.

The previous record was set earlier this season in the reverse derby hosted by Inter, which generated €8,649,494 in ticket sales.

A Sold-Out San Siro

More than 75,500 spectators are expected inside San Siro Stadium for the highly anticipated clash.

Tickets have been nearly impossible to find for days, confirming once again the extraordinary appeal of the Derby della Madonnina — not only for local supporters but for fans around the world.

Inter supporters will fill the Curva Nord, which will serve as the away section for this match, while Milan’s Curva Sud will lead the home crowd in pushing the Rossoneri toward victory.

For Milan, the previous club record dated back to February 2, 2025, when a derby produced €7.34 million in ticket revenue. Sunday’s match will comfortably surpass that figure.

Serie A’s Most Loyal Fanbase

The new sellout further reinforces Milan’s position as the most attended team in Italy this season.

The Rossoneri currently lead Serie A in average home attendance with 72,844 spectators per match — a number that will increase once the derby figures are included.

Inter follow closely behind with an average of 71,758 fans per home game.

With both teams fighting for crucial points in the race for Champions League qualification — and possibly even the Scudetto — the derby’s importance on the field matches the excitement in the stands.

A Global Event

The derby will also draw massive international attention.

Fans from nearly 100 different countries have purchased tickets for the match, highlighting the global reach of Italian soccer. Around 220 journalists will be present in the press tribune, accompanied by roughly 50 photographers and 25 social media managers covering the game from pitchside.

Broadcast distribution is expected to reach more than 200 countries through international TV networks and streaming platforms.

To capture every moment, the production will feature 28 cameras, including a Spider-Cam suspended above the pitch to deliver dramatic aerial angles.

Hospitality and Matchday Experience

Demand has also been record-breaking in the stadium’s hospitality areas.

All premium sections, including the Club 1899 hospitality suites, are completely sold out, hosting roughly 5,000 guests — another milestone for Milan.

Beyond the match itself, visitors are also booking tours of Casa Milan and the San Siro museum, turning derby weekend into a full football experience for supporters traveling to the city.

Just before kickoff, fans inside the stadium will be treated to a large laser light show, adding to the spectacle before one of the most iconic rivalries in world soccer begins.

With a packed stadium, a global television audience, and a historic financial milestone already guaranteed, the Milan derby is once again proving why it remains one of the biggest events in European football.
