Verona Complete Bowie Deal as Hellas Step Up Fight for Survival

Scottish striker Kieron Bowie arrives from Hibernian in a €6m move, as Verona push for Lovric, work on a new goalkeeper, and finalize Cissé’s sale to PSV.

Hellas Verona are moving aggressively in the January transfer window as they look to secure Serie A survival, completing key signings while reshaping the squad through targeted exits.

The headline move is the arrival of striker Kieron Bowie from Hibernian. The Scottish forward is set to become an official Verona player in the coming hours, with medical tests scheduled today following the completion of paperwork. The deal has been finalized on a permanent basis for €6 million plus bonuses, with Bowie signing a long-term contract running until June 30, 2030. Verona see the 22-year-old as a cornerstone of their relegation battle and a long-term investment in attack.

Despite Bowie’s signing, Verona have not entirely ruled out another offensive addition. The club remains interested in Sandro Kulenovic of Dinamo Zagreb, who has already agreed to the move. The two clubs have settled on a formula of a loan with an obligation to buy — conditional on Verona staying in Serie A — set at €3 million. For now, the Bowie deal has put the Kulenovic operation on standby, but it could be revived depending on outgoing transfers.

In midfield, Verona are also closing in on another important reinforcement. The club have made a late push for Sandi Lovric, who is set to leave Udinese. The Slovenian midfielder had also attracted interest from Cagliari and Cypriot side Pafos, but Hellas have made a decisive move and the deal could be wrapped up as early as today. Timing is crucial, with Verona traveling to Cagliari tomorrow for their next league fixture.

Verona are also working to strengthen their goalkeeping department. Talks continue for Karl Hein, the Estonian international currently at Werder Bremen on loan from Arsenal. His valuation stands at around €3 million, and negotiations are focused on finding the right financial structure. Hein has already given his approval to the move, keeping the deal firmly on track.

On the outgoing side, Alphadjo Cissé is on the verge of completing a transfer to PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch club are set to invest around €8 million — €6.5 million upfront plus €1.5 million in bonuses. Before the move can be finalized, Verona must settle compensation terms with Catanzaro, where Cissé has impressed during a recent loan spell. Catanzaro initially asked for €1.5 million, Verona offered €500,000, and an agreement is expected at approximately €800,000.

With Bowie secured, Lovric close, and multiple negotiations still active, Hellas Verona are sending a clear message: the club is fully committed to reshaping the squad and fighting to remain in Serie A until the very end.a push for Lovric, work on a new goalkeeper, and finalize Cissé’s sale to PSV.
