Roma 2-3 Torino: Adams Brace and Ilkhan Stunner Knock Giallorossi Out of Coppa Italia

Torino stun Roma at the Olimpico with a dramatic 3-2 win, booking a Coppa Italia quarterfinal clash with Inter.

Torino pulled off a major upset at the Stadio Olimpico, beating Roma 3-2 in the Coppa Italia and advancing to the quarterfinals, where they will face Inter. Marco Baroni’s side were ruthless in front of goal, led by a brace from Che Adams and a dramatic late winner from Ilkhan, while Roma were left to rue defensive mistakes and missed opportunities.

It was a quiet opening phase, with few clear chances in the early minutes. Stephan El Shaarawy provided Roma’s first real spark, nearly scoring with a delicate chip after a solo run, while Adams went close at the other end after a well-worked Torino move involving Simeone and Vlasic.

The breakthrough arrived in the 35th minute. Adams capitalized on a poor clearance from Ziolkowski, striking first time from the edge of the box with a low diagonal shot that beat Mile Svilar to give Torino the lead.

Roma responded immediately after the break. Gian Piero Gasperini made changes at halftime, introducing Ndicka and Hermoso, and the latter made an instant impact. Pushing forward from defense, Hermoso showed impressive composure, dribbling into space before firing a left-footed shot past Paleari to make it 1-1.

Torino’s response was swift and decisive. A flowing move down the left ended with Lazaro crossing into the box, Vlasic laying the ball off, and Adams finishing first time. Svilar got a hand to the shot but failed to keep it out, restoring Torino’s lead.

Roma refused to go quietly and found a second equalizer in the 82nd minute through Antonio Arena. The 2009-born forward marked his debut with a goal, rising to meet a cross from the left and heading home to ignite the Olimpico.

The celebration was short-lived. In the 90th minute, Torino struck the decisive blow. Ilkhan pounced on another error from Svilar, calmly finishing to silence the stadium and seal a memorable 3-2 victory for the Granata.

With this win, Torino advance to the Coppa Italia quarterfinals, setting up a highly anticipated showdown with Inter, while Roma exit the competition despite flashes of promise, including a dream debut goal from Arena.
