Fiorentina Secure Brescianini: Midfield Reinforced as Viola Plan for Survival and the Future

Deal with Atalanta all but done for the 26-year-old midfielder, with a long-term contract ready if safety is secured

Fiorentina are pressing the accelerator in the January transfer window. While official confirmation is still pending, the Viola have effectively completed the signing of Marco Brescianini from Atalanta, adding another key piece to Paolo Vanoli’s squad as the club fights to secure Serie A survival.

The deal: loan now, long-term commitment later

The agreement between Fiorentina and Atalanta is based on a paid loan with an option to buy, which will automatically become an obligation if Fiorentina avoid relegation.

Should that condition be met, Brescianini will sign a contract running until 2030, a clear indication of the club’s belief in the midfielder as part of a longer-term project rather than a short-term fix.

At 26 years old in the coming days, Brescianini arrives at a crucial stage of his career—experienced enough to make an immediate impact, yet still with room to grow.

Second January signing after Solomon

Brescianini is Fiorentina’s second winter acquisition, following the arrival of Manor Solomon. Together, the two signings reflect a precise strategy: reinforce the spine and attacking width of a team that struggled for balance and consistency in the first half of the season.

Head coach Paolo Vanoli had repeatedly asked for midfield reinforcements, and the club has responded decisively.

Paratici factor and next moves

Behind the scenes, Fiorentina are also preparing for the arrival of Fabio Paratici, who is expected in Florence next week once he finalizes the termination of his contract with Tottenham Hotspur.

With Paratici set to officially take charge of the sporting area, Fiorentina’s market activity is expected to intensify further.

Other targets on Fiorentina’s radar

The Viola are not done yet. Several profiles are being monitored across multiple departments:

Defense

  • Diego Coppola
  • Radu Dragusin
  • Federico Baschirotto

Midfield & attack

  • Giovanni Fabbian
  • Benjamín Domínguez
  • Tommaso Baldanzi
  • Jeremie Boga
  • Zito Luvumbo

Outgoings also expected

To balance the squad and the books, Fiorentina are also preparing several exits. Among the players potentially on the move are Edin Džeko, Amir Richardson, Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, Christian Kouamé, and one of Pablo Marí or Luca Ranieri.

A clear message

Brescianini’s arrival confirms Fiorentina’s intent: act early, reinforce decisively, and avoid drifting deeper into trouble. Survival is the immediate goal—but the foundations for a more stable future are already being laid.
