Juventus 2–0 Pafos: McKennie and David Deliver as Yildiz Shines Again in Key Champions League Win

The Bianconeri take a vital step forward in the League Phase, overcoming a shaky first half thanks to a decisive showing from McKennie, a redeeming goal from David, and another standout performance from Kenan Yildiz.

Juventus claimed their second consecutive Champions League victory, defeating Pafos 2–0 in Turin and moving to nine points in the league-phase standings. It was a must-win match for Luciano Spalletti’s team, and while the performance wasn’t flawless, the result was exactly what the Bianconeri needed.

The visitors made their intentions clear from the opening minutes. Anderson nearly produced a stunning opener with an audacious back-heel flick that sent a chill through the Stadium. Moments later, Yildiz delivered Juve’s first big chance, curling a right-footed shot that Michail pushed wide.

Pafos continued to threaten, especially through Anderson again at the half-hour mark. His header struck the post following a clever layoff from Dragomir, and shortly after, he unleashed another powerful effort that forced Di Gregorio into a smart save. Juventus looked shaky and uninspired, and the frustration peaked when Jonathan David missed a glaring chance from one yard out after a perfect setup by Kelly.

Boos accompanied Juve into the tunnel at halftime.

Spalletti reacted immediately, sending on Conceição for a subdued Zhegrova. The impact was instant. Yildiz fed Koopmeiners, whose shot was pushed aside by Michail, and Conceição twice broke through the Pafos line in the early stages of the half.

The breakthrough came in the 67th minute. A determined buildup on the right involving Cambiaso and McKennie ended with the American firing a thunderous finish at the near post to give Juventus a deserved lead.

With pressure finally lifted, the Bianconeri struck again just six minutes later. A turnover in midfield sparked a perfect Juventus counterattack, and Yildiz—always decisive—slipped the ball across for David, who this time kept his composure and buried the 2–0.

The closing minutes offered little drama, as Juventus managed the match professionally and prevented Pafos from re-entering the contest.

With nine points and renewed confidence, Spalletti’s side continues to climb the Champions League mega-table, though improvements in consistency and sharpness will be needed in the upcoming fixtures.
