Milan–Roma 1–0: Pavlovic Strikes, Maignan Saves the Day in San Siro Thriller

Leão creates, Pavlovic finishes, and Maignan denies Dybala from the spot as Milan edge Roma in a tense Matchday 10 showdown.

Milan battled past Roma 1–0 at San Siro in one of the standout fixtures of Matchday 10, securing a crucial victory thanks to Pavlovic’s first-half strike and a decisive penalty save from Mike Maignan.

The match carried emotional weight for Milan boss Max Allegri, who dedicated the win to his late mentor Giovanni Galeone, passing away just hours before kickoff. Allegri’s men showed both determination and heart against a strong Roma side that arrived in Milan with hopes of climbing to the top of the Serie A table.

Roma started with confidence, pushing high and testing Maignan early. But the breakthrough came at the 40th minute, when Rafael Leão’s brilliant burst down the left ended with a perfect assist for Pavlovic, who calmly finished to make it 1–0.

In the second half, Milan pushed for a second goal, striking the post through Nkunku and forcing multiple saves from an outstanding Svilar. Hermoso also produced a key clearance to deny Leão from close range.

Roma fought back and came inches from equalizing late on. In the 82nd minute, a handball by Fofana gave Dybala the chance to level from the penalty spot — but Maignan guessed correctly, diving low to his left to preserve the lead and send San Siro into celebration.

With the win, Milan close in on the top of the table and regain confidence after a shaky run of form. Roma, despite their strong start, return home empty-handed, ruing missed chances and a wasted penalty from their talisman.
