Genoa 0-2 Cremonese: Bonazzoli brace sinks Grifone as Nicola’s men claim crucial away win

Two goals from Bonazzoli — one early, one just after the break — give Cremonese a deserved victory at the Ferraris. Genoa struggle to react as Vieira’s side remain stuck near the bottom of the Serie A table.

Cremonese earned an impressive 2-0 win away to Genoa on Matchday 9, with Federico Bonazzoli scoring twice to secure Davide Nicola’s team their second consecutive victory. It was a disciplined and efficient display from the visitors, who struck early and managed the game intelligently despite Genoa’s possession-heavy approach.

The match could not have started better for Cremonese: after just four minutes, Bonazzoli opened the scoring, finishing clinically from inside the box after a clever pass from Vardy. Genoa, shaken by the early blow, pushed forward but failed to create clear chances — their best opportunities coming from long-range efforts by Malinovskyi and Ellertsson.

At the start of the second half, Cremonese doubled their lead. Once again it was Bonazzoli, this time reacting quickest to a loose ball after a corner to beat Leali from close range. The early second-half goal deflated Genoa’s momentum, and despite Vieira’s attacking substitutions — introducing Ekuban, Vitinha, and Colombo — the Grifone rarely threatened Audero’s goal.

Cremonese, compact and well-organized, controlled the remainder of the match with composure. Captain Bianchetti led a solid defensive line, while midfielders Payero and Bondo worked tirelessly to break up Genoa’s rhythm.

For Genoa, it’s another frustrating result in front of their home fans, leaving them with serious work to do to climb out of the lower half of the table.
