Pulisic Tempted by MLS Return: New York Reportedly Ready to Offer Milan Star a Mega Deal

Christian Pulisic’s future at Milan could be uncertain as reports in Italy claim New York City FC are preparing a lucrative five-year contract worth $10 million per season.

Milan may have a new reason to worry about Christian Pulisic’s future.

According to reports in Italy, New York City FC are interested in bringing the United States captain back home and are reportedly prepared to offer him a five-year contract worth $10 million per season.

Pulisic, currently under contract with Milan through June 2027, has been in talks over an extension for more than a year. Negotiations appeared to be moving toward a new deal running until 2030 with a salary increase to around €5 million per season plus bonuses, but discussions have seemingly stalled in recent months.

The uncertainty surrounding his long-term future at San Siro comes after a difficult second half of the season. After leading Milan’s scoring charts until January, Pulisic struggled to find the net consistently in 2026, coinciding with another disappointing campaign for the Rossoneri, who failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for a second consecutive year.

Despite Milan owner Gerry Cardinale publicly declaring the American winger untouchable, the absence of Champions League football has reportedly led Pulisic and his representatives to evaluate other opportunities.

One of those opportunities may come from MLS.

New York City FC, part of the City Football Group, are believed to be eager to make Pulisic the new face of soccer in the United States. The proposed salary would more than double the figures discussed during renewal talks with Milan and would make him one of the highest-paid players in Major League Soccer.

No official offer has reportedly been submitted to Milan at this stage, and that remains a significant obstacle. MLS clubs have historically been reluctant to spend large transfer fees, while Milan continue to view Pulisic as a key player for the future under head coach Ruben Amorim.

However, the Rossoneri are also aware that allowing a player of Pulisic’s caliber to enter the final year of his contract without an extension could expose them to the risk of losing him for free in the future.

Another factor complicating negotiations is Pulisic’s salary expectations. According to Italian reports, the American international now believes his status within the team warrants wages higher than those earned by Rafael Leão, currently Milan’s highest-paid player with an annual package worth around €7 million including bonuses.

For now, Pulisic remains focused on the World Cup with the United States, where he recently returned from a minor calf injury. But as interest from New York grows, Milan may soon be forced to make an important decision regarding one of their most marketable stars.

Whether “Captain America” stays in Europe or eventually returns home, his future is shaping up to become one of the biggest stories of the summer transfer window.
