Douvikas, Rodriguez and Kempf overturn Coulibaly’s early header as Como continue their stunning climb up the Serie A table on Matchday 27.
Como 1907 continued their remarkable push toward the Champions League places with a convincing 3-1 win over US Lecce on Matchday 27 of Serie A.
Cesc Fabregas’ side showed both resilience and attacking flair at the Stadio Sinigaglia, responding immediately to an early setback before taking full control of the contest. The victory temporarily lifts Como above Juventus into fifth place — a position that, just months ago, seemed beyond imagination.
Early Shock, Immediate Response
Lecce struck first after just 13 minutes. Banda burst down the flank and delivered a pinpoint cross for Coulibaly, who rose above the defense to head past Butez. Como’s back line appeared too deep, and the visitors capitalized.
But the response was swift and emphatic.
Five minutes later, the hosts were level. Perrone split the lines with a clever vertical pass to Rodriguez, whose quick combination play set up Douvikas for a close-range finish. The Greek striker notched his ninth league goal of the season, continuing his impressive campaign.
Rodriguez — a constant threat down the flank — then completed the turnaround. Perrone once again turned provider, slipping a perfectly weighted ball into the Spaniard’s path. Rodriguez calmly rounded Falcone and slotted home for 2-1, leaving Lecce’s defense scrambling.
Before halftime, Como struck again. On a beautifully delivered free kick from Da Cunha, Kempf dove forward to power in a header, making it 3-1 and effectively ending the contest before the break.
Control and Missed Chances After the Break
Lecce reverted to a back four in the second half, but their attacking output dwindled. Fearful of being exposed further, they struggled to create meaningful chances.
Como, meanwhile, nearly added a fourth. Nico Paz — introduced off the bench — was inches away from finishing a flowing team move that would have capped a dazzling sequence.
There were also minutes for Diao, returning from injury after missing the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal. He had a late opportunity, but Falcone denied him.
Como finished the match with ten men after Morata was forced off with an ankle issue and no substitutions remaining, but Lecce never truly threatened a comeback.
Perrone the Conductor, Rodriguez the Blade
Perrone was the tactical metronome in midfield, dictating tempo and unlocking Lecce’s shape with incisive passing. Rodriguez, meanwhile, tormented the right side of Lecce’s defense all afternoon, exposing the struggles of both Siebert and Veiga.
For Lecce, Ndaba endured a difficult outing in the back three, while Coulibaly’s early goal was overshadowed by a costly slip in the build-up to Como’s second.
Como’s European dream is no longer a whisper — it’s becoming a conversation.
