Juric’s side create plenty but fail to break down a disciplined Slavia Prague. De Ketelaere shines, Lookman improves, but Krstovic and Scamacca miss big chances.
Atalanta were left frustrated in Bergamo after a goalless draw against Slavia Prague in the Champions League group stage. The Nerazzurri dominated for long stretches and created several clear chances but were once again let down by poor finishing and an inspired performance from goalkeeper Markovic.
The first half was one-way traffic after an early scare from the visitors, as Chory and Kusej came close to surprising Carnesecchi. Atalanta responded immediately with Lookman cutting inside and testing the defense, while Kossounou saw his effort denied by Markovic in a key one-on-one.
Then came the biggest opportunities of the night: between the 27th and 28th minutes, Krstovic wasted two sitters — the first saved by Markovic, the second skied over the bar after an exquisite setup from De Ketelaere, who was Atalanta’s creative spark throughout. Lookman and Ederson also threatened, but the breakthrough never came.
After halftime, the pace slowed, with Slavia growing in confidence. Carnesecchi was called into action again to save a dangerous free kick from Provod. De Ketelaere continued to orchestrate the attack, sending Sulemana through on goal in the 67th minute, but the youngster’s heavy touch wasted another golden chance.
In the closing stages, substitute Zalewski crossed for Scamacca, whose header from point-blank range flew over before Markovic once again denied him in the 85th minute.
Atalanta can take positives from their control and intensity, but the lack of precision up front leaves them with just a single point — and plenty of regret — after a match they largely dominated.
