Cunha adds the finishing touch while Neymar returns from injury. Brazil advances as group winner ahead of Morocco.
Brazil delivered its most convincing performance of the tournament, defeating Scotland 3-0 in Miami to secure first place in Group C and send a clear message to the rest of the field.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side entered the final matchday level on points with Morocco, knowing only a victory would guarantee top spot. The Seleção answered emphatically, dominating from the opening whistle and relying on another spectacular display from Vinicius Junior.
The Real Madrid superstar opened the scoring after just seven minutes. Young winger Rayan Simplício burst down the flank and delivered a perfect pass for Vinicius, who calmly slotted beyond Angus Gunn to put Brazil ahead.
Scotland struggled to cope with Brazil’s pace and technical quality. McTominay and Ferguson battled hard in midfield, but Steve Clarke’s side created almost nothing going forward as Marquinhos and Gabriel comfortably controlled the back line.
Brazil doubled its advantage in first-half stoppage time. Bruno Guimarães, outstanding throughout the night, split the Scottish defense with a clever through ball and Vinicius once again showed his class, finishing clinically for his fourth goal of the tournament.
The match was effectively over fifteen minutes into the second half. Guimarães collected possession in midfield and produced another incisive pass, finding Matheus Cunha in stride. The Manchester United striker rounded off the move with a composed finish to make it 3-0.
The evening also brought encouraging news for Brazilian supporters as Neymar made his long-awaited return from injury, replacing Cunha in the 76th minute and receiving a standing ovation from the crowd in Miami.
Scotland finishes third with only three points and a poor goal difference, making qualification as one of the best third-placed teams highly unlikely.
Brazil, meanwhile, marches confidently into the Round of 32 and will face the runner-up from Group F, currently contested by the Netherlands and Japan.
