Roma 1–0 Como: Wesley’s Strike Lifts Giallorossi, Soulé Pulls the Strings at the Olimpico

The Brazilian fullback delivers the winner as Roma bounce back in Serie A, while Como struggle to find cutting edge in the capital.

Roma returned to winning ways in Serie A with a narrow but valuable 1–0 victory over Como at the Stadio Olimpico. In a tight and often tactical contest, it was Wesley’s precise second-half strike that made the difference, allowing Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to collect three crucial points and keep pace near the top of the table.

After back-to-back league defeats, the Giallorossi showed greater balance and control, limiting Como’s attacking threats and gradually increasing the pressure as the match wore on. The visitors, still reeling from a heavy loss at San Siro, adopted a more cautious approach under Cesc Fàbregas but struggled to turn defensive solidity into meaningful chances.

Roma looked the more proactive side from the outset, with Matías Soulé providing creativity between the lines and Evan Ferguson working tirelessly up front. The breakthrough appeared to arrive early in the second half through Cristante, but the goal was ruled out for offside in the build-up. The hosts did not lose momentum, however, and their persistence was rewarded just past the hour mark.

Soulé once again played a key role, finding space on the right and feeding Wesley, who cut inside before unleashing a low, curling effort that beat Butez at the far post. It was a moment of quality in an otherwise cagey game, and it proved decisive.

Como attempted a late response, but Roma’s defensive unit—led by Ndicka and Mancini—stood firm. Aside from a few isolated breaks, the visitors were unable to seriously trouble Svilar, while Nico Paz remained largely disconnected in his advanced role.

The final whistle confirmed a confidence-boosting win for Roma, who close the gap on the teams above them, while Como leave the Olimpico empty-handed after another frustrating evening in front of goal.
